I am a child of the 80′s and the Goonies movie pretty much sums up every single wish a kid had growing up, adventure, treasure hunting, and riches. So I was thrilled to learn that I could sneak in a night in Astoria, Oregon, right at border before Washington state.
I was even more thrilled to learn that Goonie’s was celebrating it’s 25 year anniversary and the town is celebrating with a festival and museum on June 4th-7th but saddened to realize I won’t be there.
But if you want to find out where all the famous scenes of the movie were filmed, head to the visitor center and they will gladly give you some addresses.
Besides Goonies, Astoria is a fun little town with some great restaurants and cool coffee spots. You should try Coffee Girl on Pier 39 where the old Bumble Bee cannery was. Very cool views of the bay. Astoria is a rather sleepy town and with the windy, cold Spring, relatively quite for visitors.
