Canada has always overwhelmed me with its vastness and unlimited possibilities for adventure and exploration. Even an average lifetime would not be sufficient to witness everything that the country has to offer. To help you skip this mental block, I have made a list of the top ten things to do in Canada. I must admit that the list was incredibly difficult to compile considering the immense natural wonders, city attractions, and diverse culture existing under the Canadian pride. So let’s begin our journey…
1. Have a bird’s eye view of the Toronto skyline from CN Tower
2. Observe wild polar bears in the wilderness of Churchill, Manitoba
3. Stroll on cobblestone walkways amidst 17th century architecture of Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec)
4. Ride a sleigh with full dogpower! Go dogsledding in Yukon
5. Watch the Aurora Borealis and wonder if you are still on Planet Earth
6. Hop aboard VIA Rail’s “Canadian”, which connects the far ends of Canada. From Vancouver to Halifax, the train makes a 7-day trip through fascinating regions like the Rockies, Jasper Park, Banff, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec. A truly memorable train journey!
7. Sip on Kokanee, Molson, Labatt, Moosehead…Canadians love their beer!
8. Munch on poutine and beaver tails…that’s right, beaver tails!
9. Skate on the largest natural skating rink in the world – the Rideau Canal. Every winter, this beautiful canal freezes and transforms into a skating paradise for locals and visitors
10. Shop till you drop in West Edmonton Mall. It is the largest mall in the world comprising of more than 800 shops, restaurants, a, skating rink, huge amusement park, water park, golf course, and submarine lake….phew!
