Icelandic clothing is world renown for their smooth Scandinavian lines and quirky Iceland features. Spending some time here, you see the clever uses of color and casual way of the Reykjavik gal about town. Reykjavik is the literal and fashion capital of this volcanic nation. It’s swankiest shops are perched along Langavegur & Skólavödustígur streets in the center city. Come here for the fine yet but expensive threads, but also for the excellent people watching. Icelandic fashion ranges from the outdoorsy winter wear, classic Icelandic wool sweaters, to the ever evolving ‘it’ fashion of today. The prices may seem a bit high but if you love something snap it up but I seriously doubt you will see it in your neck of the woods. Especially chic here are the patterned stockings worn under shorts.
Here is a small list of local brands and shops carrying Icelandic clothing, a more expansive list can be found in Iceland’s Grapvine newspaper (a must read for anyone going to Iceland for 1st or 15th time).
