Putting on the Grand Cayman Ritz

Luxury is 4 words, Grand Cayman Ritz-Carlton. This hotel has everything to woo the weary Caribbean traveler and is my top choice for a comfortable, slick service oriented hotel on your next stay on island (as the locals refer to Cayman). I, myself, am not a rich individual, so when I get treated like one and am provided with the best facilities and service, you start to realize the difference between 4 and 5 stars. Let me tell you, I like it! And this is not a paid endorsement, just a simple FYI to all you Cayman bound visitors.

I also have a Top 10 Things to Do in the Cayman Islands article.

  1. The beach. Any stroll up and down 7-mile beach will show, what the others are missing. No provided beach chairs, cabañas, access to the water sports desk, or waiters bringing you drinks with little umbrellas.
  2. Complementaries. Where do I begin? Free drinks and cold towels are brought out to you on the beach and pool. Free workout facility and classes. Welcome juice and cookies. Free use of La Praire Spa’s sauna and steam room. Free morning caffeine, coffee and tea. Free DVD movies for your room. Free apples in workout room. Free snorkel gear and rafts. Free smiles and service from the staff.
  3. World class restaurant- Blue. An Eric Ripert gem and worth the splurge ($90-150 w/o wine). Sometimes one of his famous pastry chefs comes down for desert-palooza at Blue.
  4. Location. Smack in the middle of 7-mile beach. Plenty of bars and other restaurants nearby.
  5. Service. An always helpful staff will set up your beach/pool chairs with special ritz chair covers with towels. Housekeeping will sneak extra waters and toiletries into your room. Staff passing you in the hallways always say hello with a smile. Concierge will take care of any last minute whims, reservations, tours, etc.
  6. Facilities. Take a steam in LaPraire Spa. Workout in style in their gym. Enjoy 1 of 2 pools. Ogle the art work on display on your way to the beach pool. Relax in their comfortable rooms with bathrooms the size of NY apartments.
  7. Food. Bar Jack (right next to the beach) has an amazing Mahi taco and Cayman Sunset cocktail that are out of this world and Periwinkle was a surprise in deliciousness

No kidding. I want my fruity drink brought to me while I’m on the beach. I bet I won’t get the Dengue from it either. ;)
