Snorkelling in Shoalwater Marine Park
One of the best things about Perth is its golden shores and coral reefs, which makes snorkelling an obvious choice activity. Shoalwater Marine Park is one of the best places in Perth to learn to snorkel, and as soon as your flippers touch the warm, emerald waters of the Indian Ocean, you’ll certainly be hooked for the rest of your trip!
Located just one hour outside the city by car, snorkelling in the seagrass meadows of long lost shipwrecks and cavernous reefs, you’ll be sharing your underwater adventure with the likes of Dolphins, Penguins and even Sea Lions!

Lazy Afternoons In Kings Park & Botanic Gardens
If the heat gets too much for you, and you can’t take any more snorkelling, then why not relax your day away at the Kings Park & Botanic Gardens. This spectacular place is the largest inner-city botanic garden in the Southern Hemisphere, and the beauty of the park has been tourists’ centre of attention for many years.
Not only are the breath-taking views of the park a far cry from busy city life, but the vibrant and energetic colours of the botanic gardens provide a wonderful contrast for the most relaxing place in the city. Although the park is huge, it’s pretty easy to find a quiet spot for a picnic. Better yet, if you’re feeling a little worn out, why not take a nap!

Kings Park
Off-Road In Perth’s Sand Dunes
So you’ve seen the wonders of the ocean from snorkelling, and you’ve relaxed in the beautiful Kings Park & Botanic Gardens. The next stop on your tour of Perth has to be the famous sand dunes, and one thing’s for sure – they won’t disappoint! This is one of the cheapest activities you can do in Perth, because all you need to do is rent a 4×4. I found a YouTube video to get a real feel for the dunes.
If you’re an adrenalin lover, then the dunes will certainly keep you on your toes, and if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can even rent a motorbike! Once you’ve finished getting your kicks from vast mountains of sand, you can even try out wind surfing along the shore nearby!
